prostituta”. Nos capítulos 17 e 18 deste livro, nas sete visões da
condenação da “grande Babilônia”, são vistos dois “sistemas” se
combinando entre SI: Babilônia (política e religiosa) e (literal e
comercial). A primeira sendo descrita no capítulo 17 e a segunda, no
capítulo 18. As predições bíblicas têm cumprimento a curto ou a longo
prazo. Portanto, nos “últimos dias”, que são dias da ira tanto humana
como divina, veremos o “aparecimento” tanto de um império político: a
federação dos dez reis escatológicos, pelo Anticristo (v.13), tendo como
sede a cidade de Roma, como também veremos o “aparecimento” de “um
falso culto” dedicado à Besta, o homem do pecado. Também veremos ainda, a
condenação duma grande prostituta denominada “a grande Babilônia”
envolvida em “mistérios”. A Babilônia, a grande, cerca de 713, (a. C.). O
profeta Naum chamou-a de “graciosa meretriz” (Na 3.4). De modo bem
similar, e por razoes idênticas um outro profeta aplica o mesmo epítero
vergonhoso a cidade de Tiro, predizendo sua ruína (Is 23.15).
Profeticamente falando, este “sistema misterioso” desta secção,
representa o novo paganismo do tempo do Anticristo, e especialmente, o
culto dele e suas formas de expressões.

A INTRODUÇÃO DESTE FLAGELO EM APOCALIPSE 8.10, QUE DIZ: “E o terceiro
anjo tocou a sua trombeta, e caiu do céu uma grande estrela... sobre a
terça parte dos rios, e sobre as fontes das águas”).

rios e nas fontes das águas”. Essa praga tem também seu paralelo na
primeira praga que caiu sobre o Egito, que atingiu não somente o rio
Nilo, mas também as fontes, os poços e os ribeiros, transformando-os em
sangue. Nos dias sombrios do governo do Anticristo homens terão manchado
a terra com o sangue dos mártires. Deus agora lhes dará sangue a beber –
uma justa retribuição, como é declarada em Gl 6.7. Esta é a lei da
compensação divina para os súditos da Besta. deus como Justo Juiz, em
sua perfeita justiça e retidão, derramará a sua grande ira, no tempo da
terceira taça, dando sangue a beber aos que derramaram sangue dos
santos. Será uma das mais horrendas pragas desta série de “sete” quando
os homens e os animais terão somente sangue coagulado para beber.

anjo das águas”. Além do que é depreendido do presente texto, havia
também idéia entre o povo da aliança helenizado que certos elementos da
natureza são controlados pelos anjos. Assim, teríamos os anjos dos
quatro ventos (Ap 7.1), do calor, da geada, das águas, do fogo, e assim,
interminavelmente. No versículo em foco, o anjo representado,
literalmente falando, tem a tarefa de guardar o suprimento das águas,
sendo assim, o “anjo-capitão” dessa parte da natureza (cf. Jo 5.4; At
27.23-24). Na teologia judaica os judeus e outros escritores da
antiguidade, chegaram até exagerar nomes de alguns desses anjos. Assim,
Niconias estaria encarregado das fontes das águas. E Admael seria o anjo
da terra, conforme diziam as idéias da época sobre os anjos.

No sentido simbólico do significado do pensamento, As águas que viste
(diz o anjo intérprete a João), onde se assenta a prostituta (“são
povos, e multidões, e nações, e línguas”). Na simbologia profética,
fontes, rios e mares, têm o sentido geral das nações inquietas e
desorganizadas (cf. Jr 6.5; Ez 29.3; Dn 7.2; Lc 21.25; Tg 1.6; Ap
17.15). Assim, para nós, o “anjo das águas”, refere-se a um “guarda
eterno” responsável pela segurança das nações, e também de executar
juízo sobre elas (Êx 14.19, 20; 23.20; Dn 10.13, 20, 21).
Capítulo XVIII
1 Depois destas coisas vi descer do céu outro anjo que tinha grande autoridade, e a terra foi iluminada com a sua glória.

destas coisas”. Nos capítulos 14 a 16, João se encontrava no céu, nesta
visão, entretanto, ele está na terra e contempla com grande expectativa
a queda da grande Babilônia expectativa a queda da grande Babilônia. A
“Grande Babilônia” a ser julgada nesta secção determinado pelo clamor do
elevado poder angelical, não se refere à antiga cidade que serviu como
capital durante o reino babilônico (Dn 4.30), mas um “sistema”
político-comercial que existirá durante o reinado cruel da Besta
(13.17). A identidade comercial da Besta (mão direita) terá sua
utilidade dentro deste confuso poder. Nos textos e contextos que
focalizam a condenação da Grande Babilônia, o Espírito de Deus dá ênfase
chamando-a: uma vez a grande prostituta (17.1), duas vezes a prostituta
(15-16), uma vez a mãe das prostituições (v.5), e seis vezes, a mulher
(vs. 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 18). Literalmente falando, a cidade de Babilônia é
citada cerca de 260 vezes na Bíblia, 27 vezes em uma só profecia (Jr
capítulo 50 e 21). O profeta Isaías diz que a queda deste grande poder,
terá lugar, no “dia do Senhor” (Is 13.13). O anjo anuncia este grande
juízo sobre a imponente cidade, e, neste capítulo, o segundo anjo (v.
21) anuncia com grande poder a consumação do mesmo.
2. “E clamou fortemente com grande voz, dizendo: Caiu, caiu a grande
Babilônia, e se tornou morada de demônios, e coito de todo o espírito
imundo, e coito de toda a ave imunda e aborrecível”.
“...Caiu,
caiu Babilônia”. Esta queda da grande Babilônia já tinha sido
antecipada no capítulo 14.8, e conseqüentemente trará lamentações sobre a
terra (v.10) e jubilo no céu (v.20). Zacarias foi um dos profetas do
Antigo Testamento que prediz o retorno do novo babilonismo. “A
significação figurada da passagem de Zacarias 5.5-11 pode ser expressa
desta maneira: A “mulher” é interpretada como sendo a “impiedade” (v.
8). Ela tenta fugir da prisão, mas o anjo, mais forte que ela, joga-a de
volta ao efa. Os verbos deixam entrever que houve luta; o poder do mal
deve ser levado a sério. No presente texto e nos que se seguem,
Babilônia é também subjugada pelo anjo do Senhor”. O sentido profundo
deste sistema, como está declarado aqui, é importante como imediatamente
o contexto mostra; é só notar a significação do nome quando empregado
simbolicamente.
I “Babilônia é a forma grega. No hebraico do
Antigo Testamento a palavra é simplesmente Babel, cujo sentido é
“confusão”. Neste sentido é empregado simbolicamente. Nos escritos dos
profetas do Antigo Testamento, a palavra “Babilônia” quando não se
refere à cidade, no sentido literal, é empregada relativamente ao estado
de “confusão” em que tem caído a ordem social. Is 13.4 dá a visão, do
ponto de vista divino da confusão que este poder gentílico, denominado
de “Babilônia” ou “confusão” tem causado no mundo. Em Passagens de
Isaías podemos notar a Babilônia política, literalmente, em seu apogeu e
glória, no que diz respeito à cidade do rio Eufrates então existente, e
figuradamente com referência aos tempos dos gentios durante a Grande
Tribulação”.
